Hello, my Freaky Darlings!
Personal Shit
This week, I’ve been having fun playing around with Google’s AI audiobook narrator. It’s not perfect, but it is close to sounding human. Which, in some ways, is rather creepy. But I’m still enjoying the experience of bringing Requiem in E Sharp to life as an audiobook.
There’s been a lot of debate lately surrounding AI and Chat GPT in particular. Some authors have been using it to write for them, and others are having a meltdown over it. It’s also causing a bit of a stir in academic circles, whether students can use it to cheat, etc. I have mixed feelings on the subject. Like most things, it can be used for good or bad. It all depends on the person using it. For me, AI is a fantastic tool that I can use to make my life easier and cheaper. I don’t particularly think Chat GPT, at this point, can write better than an author who has spent years working on their craft. But some of the stories I’ve seen it produce are better than some of the crap I’ve seen produced by mediocre hacks who don’t give a shit about their craft. Only time will tell where AI takes us and whether it will replace us all, but for now, I’m using AI to produce an affordable audio version of Requiem in E Sharp that should be available for your listening pleasure in early April.
Weird Shit
In this week’s episode, I’m travelling to Alberta, Canada and exploring the haunted Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Have you ever stayed at a haunted hotel? What was your paranormal experience like?
Shit to Read
Since it’s women’s day on the 8th of March, I’ve got some books with strong female characters for you to choose from. I’ve also got some thrilling mystery tales that are either stand-alone books or the first in a series, and last but not least; I have a cosmic horror novella called The Ballad of Barnacle Bill by Newton Webb.
Gratuitous Cat Pic

Well … that’s it for now. Until next time …
Happy reading, and thank you for being a Freaky Darling!
