Virtual Weddings, Weird Creatures, and Grim Tales

Hello, my Freaky Darlings!

Personal Shit

My niece got married this weekend! Even though she and most of my family were in New Zealand and I was stuck here in South Africa dealing with power issues thanks to the endemic corruption that has crippled our power utility company and no water for the weekend, I was still able to be there virtually thanks to Zoom. Isn’t modern technology amazing?

It was a lovely wedding that I watched at 4 am from the comfort of my bed, in my pyjamas, with a cup of coffee. Granted, it would have been far better to have been able to attend in person and sit on a picnic blanket on the grassy embankment overlooking the lake and watch my beautiful niece walk up to her husband-to-be and take her vows in such a tranquil setting. However, at least I still got to be there without coughing up a kidney to sell on the black market to pay for the trip. I shed a few tears when she said I do, and then I got to go back to sleep. So that’s a win-win for me.

Have you attended any weddings or significant events via Zoom?

Weird Shit

In this week’s video, I get to know the Kappa, which means River Child and are mythical aquatic, reptilian human-like creatures that are about the size of a child and live in rivers and streams all over Japan.

What do you think of the Kappa? Creepy, just meh, or rather funny?

Shit to read
