Hello my Freaky Darlings,
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had an amazing holiday and are now ready to grab 2018 by the balls and make it squeal.
Thank you to those of you who were kind enough to answer my survey questions. The answers were surprising and incredibly helpful. You guys are awesome!
So … Here are the results.
I’m happy to say none of you went with the free option. Thanks for that. As for the few who said 0.99 cents … well … yeah … I’m just not even going to say anything about that. I’m just going to ignore that. But as you can see from the above image almost 50% of you thought that $2.99 was a fair price for my novels, and as much as I would like to keep my books that cheap, I can’t. I actually do need to earn enough to eat and pay the mortgage, so I’m sorry but that price point isn’t really an option anymore. Sorry!
I am surprised that nobody went with the $3.99 option since that’s where they have been till now.
Thank you to the more than 30% of you who thought 6.99 was a fair price. That’s really sweet of you, but I really can’t charge that much. It’s just not fair on the people who are like me – strapped for cash. So I’m going with the middle option and changing the prices for Shadows, Requiem in E Sharp, and Fury to $4.99. I think it’s a fair price. It’s not too expensive and it means I can still eat without ripping you off. I hope you guys are okay with that and understand why I’m having to up the price on those three books.
On to the results for question 2 about the pricing for The Race Series. As The Race is a series of novelettes I’m going to keep the price for the books at $0.99 with the first book free. Thank you so much to the 40% of you who felt a higher price point was fair. It’s very sweet of you! But I’m gonna keep these books as cheap as possible.
But my Novellas Oasis and Burning are at $2.99 and that’s where they’re gonna stay. That way I have a variety of price points to fit different wallets.
I’ll be keeping an eye on how the different price points do and might play around with them or do another survey at some point.
The answers for question 3 were rather nice. Nobody told me to shut the fuck up and almost 50% of you want to hear from me every week. Almost 20% of you want to hear from me twice a week and as tempting as that is I think that might be pushing it, although that may end up happening from time to time depending on what goes on. I’m going to try and keep it to once a week.
The answers for question 4 were interesting. At least nobody told me to stop making them … And at least almost 50% of you like them and find them interesting and more than 30% of you want more of them. So that’s nice! I have to admit I wasn’t really sure if I should keep making them but since the majority of you seem to like them I guess I’ll keep making ’em.
The answers to the final question were also rather illuminating although they have left me in a bit of a quandary as to how I’m going to give you guys more of what you want. In question 4 most of you said you liked the YouTube videos, so I’m going to keep doing them, but since you would also like other content and you only want to hear from me once a week, I’m going to have to combine posts and videos into one or reduce the amount of videos I put out and maybe alternate between the videos and other blog posts.
Hmmm … So … what do you guys think? Should I still do the videos once a week and add a blog post about other stuff under the video, so it’s a more content rich post for you to consume once a week? I think that could work … But it’s up to you, so let me know in the comments section.
Pretty please with a cherry on top.
And since a lot of you guys wanted more personal shit including cat pics, here’s a pic of Midnight aka The Prince of Darkness.
So … That’s my first post of the year done and dusted. I hope it met with all your expectations. Please let me know what you think of the survey results etc in the comments section and also feel free to let me know anything else in the comments.
And those of you eagerly awaiting the release of Besieged, it should be out in a week or so. Watch this space.
Also coming up next week is the video about the rather sad December sales figures.
