Hello, my Freaky Darlings!
So … I think we all need our tribe, and yesterday, I went to a wine festival with the people who matter the most to me. They’re my chosen family – my tribe. They’re the ones who know me best and who love me unconditionally, even when I’m not feeling particularly loveable. They’re the ones who pick me up when I’m down and laugh with me in a drunken haze while it pours with rain. While it poured with rain yesterday as we moved from wine stall to wine stall, tasting all the delicious red wines and the occasional white wine on offer and getting a smidge drunk along the way, I struck up a conversation with a fellow wine drinker waiting in the queue to taste another bottle of happy juice, as one does at these things. It turned out she was a writer just starting out and trying to get her first book written. So I said I was also a writer, not trying to be braggy or anything, just that I had published a couple of books and offered a little bit of advice. At which point the bestie, my sister from another mister, piped up and started doing all the bragging for me.
Sometimes you need someone to remind you that just getting that first book published is a huge accomplishment and that publishing 14 books is fucking epic. Sometimes you need a cheerleader telling people you’re a rockstar, even when you don’t think you are. Do you have someone in your corner cheering you on when you need to be reminded just what a rockstar you are?
Don’t worry. No drunk driving took place. The brilliant bestie arranged for a driver to pick us up from the venue and drive us home safely. But I may have a slight hangover this morning.
Anyway … today’s video filmed with the said hangover is all about the Genesee River killer.
Moving on to what I suspect is everyone’s favourite section—this week’s giveaways and books on sale.
Gratuitous Cat Pic
Well … that’s it for now. Until next time …
Happy reading, and thank you for being a Freaky Darling!
