Hello, my Freaky Darlings!
It’s been a while since I last wrote. What can I say? It’s been a tad hectic for most people on the planet, and I’m no exception. What with the shit-show that is Covid, the day job and getting a promotion, and trying to juggle my writing and publishing and marketing, this thing called burnout happened. The struggle is real. So I took a break. I’m not sure I’ve entirely recovered, but I’m trying to slowly make my way back to some sort of normalcy, but it’s slow going. Don’t even get me started on trying to get the creative juices going, but I’m slowly getting my brain back into writing The Oubliette. I’ve even been struggling on the reading front, although I’m not entirely sure I can blame burnout for that. That, I think I can blame on a game called Evony.
Speaking of Evony and other PvP base builder games like it, it really is a fascinating microcosm of the world and the different types of people who play it. There are always the bullies who pay a lot of money to create power and strength to feel better about themselves and are obviously overcompensating for some deficiency. Then you get those who rebel against the bullies and those who simply want to play the game, mind their own business and hunt some monsters. I’m somewhere between the latter two.
Moving from war games to actual war. What’s happening at the moment breaks my heart. I also wonder if Edward Bernays, the father of propaganda, would look at what his theories have produced with horror or with pride? The things going on in the real world are far stranger than fiction. The amount of disinformation and manipulation of the masses is of epic proportions. It boggles the mind. No wonder I’m struggling to write.
But anyway, moving on to why you’re actually here … Books!
First up, let me introduce you to Primordia by Thomas A. Bradley.
Ross needed a pacemaker…
…what he got was a trip through hell.
And the nightmare was just beginning.
Ross was a scientist, a loving husband, and dedicated father. When an illness struck, all that changed. In the blink of an eye, everything he knew and cared for was about to disappear.
Sometimes…
…death is just the beginning.
It started with a mild cold and a case of mistaken identity. Too late Ross learns when man plays god, the outcome is always terror. And his family might just pay the price for impatience.
Horror is at its most terrible…
…when it wears the face of a loved one.
You’ll love this sci-fi horror tale, because blood truly is thicker than water, and inescapable.
