Hello, my Freaky Darlings!
Books are not a luxury item. They’re a basic human necessity!
Without books, our brains would starve, and we’d all be as ignorant as a giant orange Cheeto. We don’t want to live in a world of ignorant giant orange Cheetos, do we? Well … at least I don’t…
In the old days when paperbacks and hardcovers were all you could get, books were priced as a luxury item and most people had to choose whether or not to buy a really good cup of coffee or a glass of wine, or go to the movies, or whatever blew their hair back, or buy that expensive and over-priced book. I know I did. I’ve had many a moment where I’ve looked at the money in my wallet and thought long and hard about whether I want to eat or buy the latest book by my favourite author. Many times my grumbling tummy won, and I’d have to put off buying that book or wait till it was on sale or until a friend bought it and I could just borrow it from them.
But those days are gone.
For those of you still stuck in the dark ages, there’s this awesome thing called ebooks. It still surprises me when people I know tell me they haven’t downloaded an ereader app like the Kindle or Kobo onto their phones or tablets. My reaction is usually WHY THE FUCK NOT? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? DON’T YOU LIKE READING STORIES AT A REASONABLE PRICE?
And then they still bitch about the price of paperbacks at their local bookstore when all they have to do is click a button on their phones to have access to millions of cheap books that are also really good. It blows my mind. And not in a good way. I don’t understand why in 2017 we’re still having the debate about whether to ebook or not. Or why big publishers are still pricing their ebooks at the same price as their paperbacks. I just don’t get it.
The world is changing. The way we read books is changing.
And now with the Indie author revolution and websites like Freebooksy, Bargain Booksy, and Bookbub, readers never have to choose between a cup of coffee and a book ever again. You can now have both!
What can I say? I’m a big fan of having my cake and eating it too, or in this case, having my book and reading it too.
And you see my Freaky Darlings, I also never want you to have to choose between your coffee and my books so my ebooks will always be nice and affordable … I promise!
