  1. Y is difficult! Hmmm, let’s see… yuck (?) Oh, I’m definitely not a winner! Lame attempt 🙂

  2. What about “Yack-o-lantern”? That has two definitions. It can either be a Jack-o-lantern that has had too much to drink or a Russian trying to say “Jack-o-lantern”

  3. Hi Joan, very comprehensive list, I enjoyed reading it very much. My Y is “Yeter’el” which is the name of a Jewish/Christian fallen angel, or demon if you prefer.

  4. I pick Yurei

Definition from Asian Horror Encyclopedia: Ghost usually a vengeful spirit or one with unfinished business on earth. Originally, yurei were indistinguishable in appearance from the living person, usually dressed in white funeral attire, a plain white kimono or one inscribed with Buddhist sutras.

  5. I know my answer sucks but what the heck LOL…
Yelling. I know it isn’t up to par with all the monsters and scary stuff but they all cause you to do this LOL

Thanks for the chance to win.

  6. Yodeling zombies. How’s that for an image? LOL That’s my entry and I’m sticking to it!

I’m coffin hopping today along with others. I write dark fiction. Creep on by to The Demon Stole My Pencil when you get a chance. I have an interview up with Ellen Datlow this week.

    Happy lurking zombies,

  7. How about Yoko Ono? She’s pretty scary ….

Yeah, okay, I got nothin’. *laughs* I’m going to take solace in the fact that you said “most original” and not “best.” 🙂

Thanks! Check out my site for my Coffin Hop giveaway, if you like. Happy Halloween!

  8. Yikes………..look out for the Yellow-jackets…….scarey bee like things with big stingers…ewwww

  9. Yama – in ancient Hindu lore, the first man to die. He descended to the underworld, but returns to act as a psychopomp, leading souls to their rest. He is sometimes depicted as a demonic figure who carries a noose in one hand.
