Hello my Freaky Darlings,

Earlier on this year I started working on a post-apocalyptic zombie novella, but when my brother was shot in February all thoughts of writing and finishing it flew out the window. I started working on it again in July and finished the first draft on Saturday. The working title at this point is Oasis, which will probably change during the editing process – or not. I’ll see how I feel as I go.

When I first started writing it, it was supposed to be a straight post-apocalypse story. The zombies were unplanned. In fact they showed up uninvited, but having them provided for some unexpected twists.

Here’s the short synopsis for it:

2013 – The planet has been fried by solar flares, turning it into a desert. The surviving population has been affected by solar radiation, turning them into Zombies. Only a handful of people remain unaffected. A family of civilians, guided by a crack army unit, who has seen more action than they can handle, must make their way to the safety of a UN base at the South Pole called New Atlantis.

But can they make it to this oasis alive or will they only reach it as undead?
