Jack’s Lament

I was recently asked to write a short story for the Wily Writers website. When Angel asked me I was completely over the moon and incredibly honoured, but then it dawned on me that I would actually have to write something. I always have loads of ideas running around my head at any given time, but the problem comes in when  I have to decide which story idea to pick and then run with.

Angel (she really lives up to her name) came to my rescue, when she suggested that I use a character from a world I’ve already created, like Shadows. After that everything just flowed. I sat down and wrote the story in a matter of hours. It was as though Jack was sitting on my shoulder whispering his story in my ear.

That story is now available from the Wily Writers Website. I’m the featured author for this week. So please pop in, download a story or three and let me know what you think of Jack’s story and the Wily website.

  1. Wish I had time to run over and read your story, Joan. But my life is so overrun by babysitting duties (which I love doing) that I barely have time to get a blogpost written occasionally. Absolutely no time for reading during this phase in my life. I know it’s just a phase and that it will pass so I’m looking forward to once again reading something other than toddler and pre-school books one of these days.
