To series or not to series

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

Up until now all my books have been stand-alone; something which some authors have felt was a mistake. Apparently these days it’s widely believed that you’ll only make it as an author if you write a series. I, on the other hand, have always bulked at the idea, because I tend to get bored and I have way too many story ideas running around this crazy brain of mine.

Strangely enough many of my readers have asked me to revisit certain characters and some of the world’s I’ve created. Shadows has been a particular favourite for some of you, but to be honest, the thought of having Jack in my head for an extended period of time is not something I relish. I still get nightmares thanks to him.

All that being said, once Fury is finished (it’s close to being done – promise) I’m going to get to work on The Iron Witch. When I first came up with the idea for the story I thought it would be just another stand-alone book, but the character and the story line seem to be begging to be a series of books about a very bad witch looking for sex and trouble in all the wrong places. So I’m going to do what I never thought I would. I’m going to write a series!

I think it’s going to be quite a lot of fun to write her and having her sarcastic voice running around my head, while disturbing, won’t be quite as bad as Jack. I’m really looking forward to her misadventures. I hope you’ll enjoy them with me. But first I need to get back to finishing Fury.

Speaking of which, I tweaked the cover blurb a bit. What do you think?

A young girl is brutally murdered.

Two rival crime bosses fight for dominance on the streets of South Africa’s capital city.

The city’s underground film industry is set ablaze.

An angry spirit bent on revenge is on a murder spree.

And Alice, a university student, is caught in the middle of a bloody battle for survival.

Their fates all intertwine in this tale of vengeance and fury.

And don’t worry, just because I’m writing a series, doesn’t mean I’m going to stop writing my stand-alone books. I still have too many other book ideas screaming at me.
