Hello my Freaky Darlings,

I was tagged by Benjamin Knox for The Next Big Thing which has been sweeping through the publishing industry like a wild fire. Most authors I know, whether they’re big name authors or newbies, have done this. So … in case you don’t know what the deal is, I’ve got to answer ten questions about my current work in progress and then tag a few authors and get them to answer the same ten questions about their work. So here goes.

What is your working title of your book?

The Race. I suck at titles.

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Strangely enough a lot of the ideas for my books come from dreams, usually very vivid nightmares, and the idea for The Race came about in pretty much the same way. I woke up sweating and feeling like I’d been running for my life.

What genre does your book fall under?

I’m thinking action packed horror… Maybe …

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Eish! Now that’s something I don’t actually think about while I’m writing. I don’t have a very firm idea of what they look like. I know what kind of people they are. I know what their voices sound like and I know what they’d do in certain situations, but I usually leave the specifics of what they look like up to the reader. That being said, I think they’d have to be pretty tough action stars. The type of actors who would have to be believable running for their lives and able to wield a sword and fight for their lives at the same time. Do you know any female action stars who fit that bill?

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Strong, tough women with swords slicing and dicing each other.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Haven’t quite decided on that one, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to convince my wonderful publisher, Fox Spirit, that this is yet another one of my books that she wants to pick up for next year.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

That’s funny! I’m still working on the first draft. In fact I’m only about 5000 words into it. It keep being pushed to the back burner for other projects that have looming dealines. I know that’s a terrible excuse, but that doesn’t make it any less true.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Not sure. When I told a friend of mine what I was working on, he said it sounded a little like The Hunger Games just a lot more violent and with adults. Only problem is I still have to read The Hunger Games and see the movie. Shocking, I know!

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

As I said previously, that dream kinda made me want to write it down. But I guess you could just blame it on my sick and twisted psyche.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Well … if they like sword fighting, strong female characters, and twists in the tale, then they’ll probably enjoy it.
