Today I thought I’d share my current to be read pile with you.

Starting from the top, it’s Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding. I loved the movie and found myself having a bit of a Bridget Jones moment recently and decided I had to read the book.

Salamander Cotton by Richard Kunzmann. Richard is a fellow South African author who I had the pleasure of meeting last year at Book Ex in Johannesburg. Heard lots of good things about his writing and can’t wait to get stuck into this one.

Next up is Mama Fish by Rio Youers. I met Rio at World Horror Con in Brighton last year. I thoroughly enjoyed Old Man Scratch and I’m sure this will be just as good.

Don’t Look Behind You by Peter Allison is the follow up to his highly amusing Don’t Run Whatever you do. Peter is hysterically funny in person and his writing is witty and intelligent. Although, whenever I spend time with him I find myself getting incredibly jealous of his adventures and my feet get itchy for their own adventures.

Payback by Mike Nicol is the first in a crime trilogy set in Cape Town. Mike is one of the top South African crime writers, in fact I like to think of him as the dark emperor of SA crime fiction. He always looks rather embarrassed when I call him that. Sorry Mike!

Then I’ve got My Brother’s Keeper by Jassy Mackenzie. Jassy is one of the sweetest of SA’s crime writers, although I’ve heard her books are rather bloody so I’m rather looking forward to sinking my teeth into this. I’m also looking forward to the launch of her latest book Worst Case on Thursday.

Next up is The Red Stone by Craig Smith. I’m not a huge fantasy fan, but Craig is carving a name for himself on the international scene and I’ve heard great things about his writing.

Rounding things up is The Stand by Stephen King. And yes, I realise the fact that I haven’t read it yet is a disgrace, but I’m working on it.
