World Book Day!

Hello my Freaky Darlings,

This weekend saw the launch for the World Book Day charity event in support of Literacy, which is the brain child of Justin Germishuys, who won the ‘The Citizen’ book prize for his first novel: The Discoveries of Whispish. The event was held at the Botanical Gardens in Pretoria. The constant rain over the weekend did prevent it from having the turnout it deserved, but the few brave souls that did turn up, in spite of the rain, brought lots of books which will be given to some grateful schools in the Hammanskraal area. Hopefully the event will have more support in years to come. Considering the low level of literacy in South Africa, it is something that we should all support.

LitNet has also been doing something around World Book day, have a look at why some of South Africa’s biggest names in literature fell in love with books. World Book Day is on the 23rd of April. What book will you be reading?

In other news, I finally got my author copies of the new print version of Shadows. Don’t they look nice?

There’s also a new review up for Shadows on Women24. Have a look and let me know what you think.

Misbehave horribly!

Am waiting for Kalahari to deliver my copy of Shadows – really can’t wait to read it.
Justin’s initiative is amazing, great to see there are people out there passionate about promoting literacy. xx
