Hello my Freaky Darlings,
I finally got to watch District 9 last week. As everybody else had already seen it I went on my own. Which, I must admit, was great. I got to pick the movie, didn’t have anybody wanting to talk during it, and I didn’t have to share my popcorn with anybody! Brilliant!
Considering all the hype that’s surrounded this movie I was expecting to watch this mind blowing blockbuster, but I should know by now that when you go in expecting something you’re only going to be disappointed. So, I’m going to try and push those expectations aside in future. It only ruins the experience, whether it’s a movie, a book, or any type of relationship for that matter.
All in all District 9 wasn’t bad. I found it’s take on Racism and the apartheid issues rather interesting. And of course the inclusion of the Nigerians, while rather stereotypical, added to the texture of Joburg. I loved watching a movie that put South Africa in the forefront and that didn’t have the USA as the only place where Aliens ended up. Just having a movie set somewhere else on the planet made District 9 worth seeing.
If you’ve watched it, what did you think of it?
Have a creepy day!
for me it was an awesome movie. I tend to keep aside expectations when watching a movie. I too liked its take on various issues of humanity. I would be posting my own review pretty soon.
I thought this was a tv show not a movie.
Nope! It’s a movie!
I loved this movie. I had little idea what it was about and went solely on the avid recommendation from trusted friends. It was brilliant.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Christina!
I loved this movie, my favourite this year. It only cost £30 million to create, and when compared to high budget films such as Transformers 2 – which was $300 million, it just shows that sometimes the cheaper films are better than the top films
